Module Eibergen II
Model of the stations building, with on the left the 'retirade' (public toilet)
Keen observers will have noticed, that this page is called Module Eibergen II, and not Eybergen II. The name on the station building is also modified.
Because... it is my intention to build a new double module that - unlike Eybergen I - does show the former Eibergen station as accurately as possible. -->
This in itself is quite a challenge. In reality the complete yard is a mere 450 m long. So more than 5 m in h0 scale. A double module is only 2 m. And the buildings and rails are really 1:87. So where to 'shrink'?
A second question was, which version of Eibergen station I wanted to build. Over the years both building and tracks have been tinkered with.

The track layout
The station buidling with the loading platforms on the right hand (Neede) side were alraedy demolished in 1956 or 1957; sources disagree on the correct year. A cattle weighing facility from 1931 had already gone by then. Up till now, I have not been able to find out where this was located.
In my youth in Eibergen, during the '60s and '70s, the freight shed (loods on the drawing) was the only surviving building. Till 1974 once in a while a locomotive from the 2400-series would roll in, with a few closed freight wagons. The main track and the siding track next to the Parallelweg were still there, just like the sput tracks leading to the Picker factory and the freight shed. For the rest it was a desolate and depressing area. This can be clearly seen on this arial view by Aviodrome from May 1966.
So not really a scene for an interesting double module. And for Eybergen I I had already modeled the station building. Therefore I decided to cheat a bit. And depict Eibergen in the early 1960s, but still with the - then already demolished - but very characteristic GOLS station building. The track layout will be a mixture from various periods. See the Anyrail drawing below.
On the left hand half the consecutive switches determine the length needed. Here only track 4 has been omitted, in order to be able to place the freight shed a bit more to the left. (In reality track 4 had also been removed some time after the demolition of the main station building).
So the 'shrinking' in length had to be found on the right hand side. To allow for enough room for the station itself and the small 'retirade' (toilet building), track 3b and the raised loading platform on the right of the station have been left out. Track 5 to the former textile factory KTV is in my plan only a switch, branching directly off the main track. In the '70s this was also the case in reality.
A less obvious alteration is, that track 1 on the left hand side has been shortened*. The switch from the main track towards track 3a and the Picker factory needed to be placed at the very beginning of the module. This to allow for enough open terrain between this factory and the freight shed.
On the current modules there is no room for the Picker factory itself. I therefor consider adding an extra 10 cm at the back.
* In reality the switch leading off to track 3a and the Picker factory was located directly on the railway crossing of the Beltrumseweg and the switch leading to the siding track 1 still more to the left. See the drawing above. During shunting the road could thus be blocked for traffic for quite some time!
